19B3-6 Dysmorphic ganglion cells, with one or more large round nuclei with prominent nucleoli, abundant amphophilic cytoplasm, and occasionally, smudgy Nissl substance, abound. Less striking, the other tumor cells contribute to a fibrillar tumor parenchyma with moderate eosinophilic cytoplasm, indistinct cell borders and processes, and variable nuclear features usually irregular, elongate-oval, and hyperchromatic. In some areas, these tumor cells are quite spindled. Eosinophilic granular bodies (EGBs) are present. Much of the vasculature appears somewhat hyperplastic and commonly shows perivascular lymphocytes and rare plasma cells, but does not show overt evidence of microvascular proliferation. In some areas, the vessels are hyalinized and thickened. No significant mitotic activity is appreciated.
