The gangliocytic proliferation is composed of cells with rather abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm, round to ovoid nuclei with crisp nuclear membranes, prominent nucleoli, and coarsely granular or speckled chromatin; some authors have described these as "hypertrophic granule cells," and this attribute is appreciated in areas of transition
