1B2 Paraganglioma, gangliocytic (Case 1) H&E 11
1B2-8 The tumor is arranged predominantly in an organoid pattern supported by a rich delicate capillary network. Most of the tumor cells are of medium size, with oval nuclei, salt-and-pepper chromatin, and moderate amounts of eosinophilic granular cytoplasm. The tumor tissue is also populated by a plentiful minority of large ganglion cells with sizeable nuclei, conspicuous nucleoli, and generous amounts of eosinophilic or amphophilic cytoplasm. Also seen are regionally frequent microcystic spaces and foci of coarse neuropil-like stroma. Some vessel walls are hyalinized and thickened. (H&E)
