Reactivity for GFAP is noted in only rare tumor cells and perivascular collections; the vast majority of tumor cells are negative. ---- Ancillary findings: EMA and D2-40 are negative. ---- Comment: These histomorphological and immunohistochemical findings are most consistent with gangliocytic paraganglioma, WHO grade I. Ganglionic differentiation to one degree or another appears in approximately half of cauda equina region paragangliomas.
