8A1 Paraganglioma (Case 8) H&E 1.jpg
Case 8 History ---- The patient was a 30 year old man with a 3.5 x 1 x 1 cm lumbar region intradural spinal tumor. ---- 8A1,2 Sections reveal a moderately cellular and highly vascular tumor surrounded by a thin fibrous capsule. The tumor cells are epithelioid and arranged in small nests and perivascular aggregates. They contain round to oval nuclei with salt and pepper chromatin and moderate quantities of eosinophilic cytoplasm. Mitotic figures are uncommon and there is no definite tumor necrosis or microvascular proliferation. No spinal cord parenchyma is seen and there are no nerve roots in the specimen.
