Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (NEURONAL) | Rosette-Forming Glioneuronal Tumor (RGNT) | 4B3 RGNT (Case 4) H&E 6
4B3-6 The tumor cells are small, round and very uniform and are arrayed in prominent rosettes and perivascular pseudo-rosette formations. These neoplastic cells have ill-defined cell membranes and show occasional mild peri-nuclear cytoplasmic clearing. Between the small, cell-rimmed vessels is hypocellular eosinophilic neuropil. There is no evidence of nuclear atypia, and mitoses are absent. There is also no evidence of necrosis or endothelial hyperplasia. Rosenthal fibers and eosinophilic granular bodies (EGBs) are not observed. In areas, the background neuropil becomes loose and takes on a blue tinged myxoid appearance. Floating neurons are not observed.
