6A1 Choroid Plexus Carcinoma (Case 6)
6A1-3 Microscopic sections reveal a choroid plexus carcinoma. Tumor cell density is moderate to high in this predominantly papillary neoplasm. Papillae have fibrovascular cores and are covered by a crowded pseudostratified epithelium bearing numerous mitoses (sometimes abnormal). Tumor cells are cuboidal to columnar and contain moderately atypical round to elongate nuclei associated with amphophilic cytoplasm. Some fibrovascular cores contain microvascular proliferation. There is multi-focal necrosis and a small amount of calcification.
