Case 14 History – Atypical CPP ---- The patient was a 3 month old male born at 34 weeks and antenatally diagnosed with a right-sided intracranial cyst who is status post cyst fenestration as well as placement of a right-sided VP shunt with a strata valve. His MRI shows an increase in the size of cyst, and he presented for a shunt revision and craniotomy for mass resection. Following resection of an atypical CPP he had multiple surgeries for fenestration and shunt placement. The cyst was persistent despite shunting, and a contrasted MRI was performed showing concerns of a tumor. He then was taken back to the OR for a craniotomy for tumor resection, as well as removal of the ventricular shunt system. An EVD was left behind but he was able to be weaned without difficulty, and he did not require replacement of a new shunt. At the age of two years his mother states he is very active and playful and feels that overall he is on target with his peers.
