10C Papillary Tumor Pineal Region (Case 10) CD56 3.jpg
There is widespread cytoplasmic positivity for CD56. ---- Ancillary studies (not shown): The Ki-67 labeling index is high. A PAS with diastase stain fails to show any intracytoplasmic inclusions. There is focal cytoplasmic immunoreactivity for vimentin. ---- The tumor cells are negative for p63, 34-beta-E12, CD99, D2-40, chromogranin, CK7, CK20, and TTF-1. In situ hybridization studies for EBER are similarly negative. ---- Comment: In comparison to most of the previously reported cases of PTPR, this tumor has distinctly more aggressive histologic features and we have placed it in the WHO Grade 3 category. This is an outside consult case and no follow up has been received
