Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (PINEAL) | Papillary Tumor Pineal Region (PTPR) | 1B1 Papillary Tumor Pineal Region (PTPR, Case 1) H&E 2 10X
1B1-5 H&E stained sections show a hypercellular tumor with a combination of papillary and solid areas; the latter, with perivascular pseudorosettes. Within these papillae and pseudorosettes, some blood vessels appear dilated or perhaps multichanneled. The tumor cell population is relatively uniform, exhibiting epithelioid forms with round nuclei, hyperchromatic or stippled chromatin, one or more moderately-sized nucleoli, and modest amounts of eosinophilic cytoplasm. On permanent H&E sections only two mitotic figures are appreciated in the entire specimen. No necrosis is present.
