A Ki67 immunostain shows the labeling index in the region of highest mitotic activity to be 12%. ---- Ancillary data (not shown): Tumor cells are strongly and diffusely immunoreactive for S-100 protein, neuron specific enolase, and, focally immunoreactive for epithelial membrane antigen, CEA, synaptophysin, and p53, and non-reactive for GFAP, NeuN, and chromogranin. Although the precise separation of WHO Grade 2 from WHO Grade 3 PTPR is not precisely defined, this tumor does have proliferative activity >10%, we have placed it into WHO Grade 3. Nonetheless, follow up shows the patient to be well without recurrence 18 years later.
