Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (PINEAL) | Papillary Tumor Pineal Region (PTPR) | 4B1 Papillary Tumor Pineal Region (PTPR) (Case 4) H&E 11
4B1-6 Sections reveal a moderately cellular epithelioid neoplasm with a prominent papillary growth pattern. The tumor cells are large with abundant eosinophilic to clear cytoplasm, the latter which occasionally includes clear vacuoles. In some areas, the tumor cells are arranged around blood vessels in a pseudorosette-like fashion. There is moderate nuclear pleomorphism and, in some areas, the nuclei appear vesicular with prominent nucleoli. Scattered mitotic figures are evident and there is focal tumor necrosis. A rare atypical mitotic figure is seen.
