5B1 Pineoblastoma (Case 5) H&E 7.jpg
5B1-3 The biopsy material shows several minute fragments of a hypercellular neoplasm, composed of primitive-appearing cells with high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio, scant cytoplasm, nuclear molding, and scattered apoptotic bodies. The tumor lacks a fibrillary background, and consists predominantly of small, primitive-appearing tumor cells. The chromatin is finely dispersed; however, small nucleoli can be seen on high power examination. Mitotic activity is identified at a rate of 9/10 HPF.
