Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (PINEAL) | Pineocytoma | 1B2 Pineocytoma (Case 1) H&E 3.jpg
1B2-5 This is a well-differentiated, moderately cellular tumor composed of a monotonous population of cells resembling pineocytes. The tumor cells have minimal eosinophilic cytoplasm, round, regular nuclei, and speckled ‘salt-and-pepper’ chromatin with occasional nuclear contour irregularities, enlargement, and conspicuous nucleoli. Mitotic activity is not noted. The tumor forms broad, pineocytomatous rosettes, consisting of large nucleus-poor fibrillary areas surrounded by neoplastic cells. (H&E)
