14A0 Case 14 History
Case 14 History ---- The patient is a 10 year old boy who initially presented at 23 months of age with a craniopharyngioma. Per report, the patient underwent resection followed by gamma knife radiosurgery at 25 months of age. The tumor recurred, and the patient underwent a second resection at the age of 35 months, and third at 7 years of age in 2011. Since that time, the patient reports an increasing frequency of headaches, occasional forgetfulness, and unprovoked bouts of emesis. Additionally, the patient's mother reports visual deficits in the right eye lateral visual field. MR imaging performed in October 2014 showed a ring-enhancing lesion in the right suprasellar region abutting the medial aspect of the right optic chiasm and right optic tract, concerning for recurrence of his craniopharyngioma. Given the imaging findings, the patient underwent re-resection on December 2014. He now presents to SLCH for a radiation oncology consult. Of note, the patient also has panhypopituitarism.
