Case 17 History ---- [95yo female with Alzheimer disease and argyrophilic grain disease] ---- 17A1-5 In this patient there is a proliferation of basophils into the neurohypophysis which is designated basophil invasion. In this case the involvement is more extensive than the typical basophil invasion. The question of a systemic or pituitary neoplasm giving rise to this appearance was considered and rejected. The tongues of basophils have no mitotic activity and a systemic neuroendocrine tumor was never established
