10A1 PA, ACTH (Case 10) H&E 4A
Case 10 History ---- [40yo female with Cushing's disease and a pituitary tumor.] ---- 10A1-3 This is a neoplasm composed of two populations of cells. The first group (corticotrophs) are represented by sheets of large cells with abundant eosinophilic to granular cytoplasm (arrowhead, 10A1) and in a more homogeneous state in 10A2. The other population (mammotrophs) have an adenomatous expansion of acini which consist of granular cells but a monomorphic humoral type (10A3), a combination of adenoma and adenomatous hyperplasia with sheetlike growth as well. The nuclei are small and normochromatic. Mitoses are not seen.
