Washington University Experience | NEOPLASM (SELLAR) | Pituitary Adenoma - Pituitary Neuroendocrine Neoplasm | Plurihormonal | 1A1 PA, Pluri (Case 1) H&E 4X marked copy
1A1 Sections of the neurosurgical specimen showed a pituitary microadenoma growing in multiple patterns. One region (arrowhead) consists of small, cuboidal cells with limited, mostly chromophobe/mildly basophilic cytoplasm. A second population of cells (arrow) have significantly more acidophilic cytoplasm but do not differ in atypia or mitotic activity. The nuclei of both populations of the tumor nuclei have a granular or "salt-and-pepper" chromatin pattern.
