Case 4 No History ---- [50yo male with acromegaly. Labs show increased GH & IGF-1. MRI shows an 8 mm nodule arising anteriorly from the pituitary gland. Radiological impression: c/w pituitary microadenoma.] ---- 4A1,2 This neoplasm is composed of tumor cells arranged in sheets with occasional poorly-formed acinar structures. Globally, most of the tumor tissue appears rather homogeneous, but the cell population exhibits cytological features that vary from cell-to-cell. The tumor cell nuclei are generally round, but nuclear size varies considerably, and a few show mildly abnormal contours. Many cells have prominent eosinophilic nucleoli. Cytoplasm varies also, with some cells appearing strongly acidophilic, and others appearing amphophilic. Mitotic figures are infrequent.
