Washington University Experience | NEOPLASM (SELLAR) | Pituitary Adenoma - Pituitary Neuroendocrine Neoplasm | Plurihormonal | 7C2 PA, separate PRL, FSH (Case 7) PRL PRL area 20X.jpg
The second population (arrowhead, 7A1) stains strongly for Prolactin. ---- Not shown: Reticulin shows normal preserved acinar architecture in uninvolved adenohypophysis tissue and its disruption in adenoma. Growth hormone and adrenocorticotrophic hormone are convincingly positive only in scattered cells of the non-neoplastic adenohypophysis. Thyroid stimulating hormone is negative. The Ki-67 proliferation rate is ~1.2% in FSH adenoma fragments, and ~2.9% in the prolactinoma fragment. ---- Comment: Overall, this is a rather unusual case of a pituitary adenoma with two separate areas of FSH and PRL tumor.
