11C2 MPNST (Case 11) recurrence S100 1
11C1,2 The tumor is strongly reactive for S100. ---- Immunohistochemistry - Not shown: The tumor cells show diffuse staining for vimentin and patchy staining for synaptophysin, NeuN and neurofilament protein (in axons). There are scattered CD163 immunoreactive cells but most probably represent reactive incorporated elements. The tumor cells are non-reactive for epithelial membrane antigen, progesterone receptor, cytokeratin CAM5.2, 7 and 20, Melan-A, HMB-45, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), CD1a, and chromogranin. The CD45 highlights the inflammatory infiltrate. The Ki-67 proliferation index is high.
