Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS - CRANIAL AND PARASPINAL NERVEs | Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST) | 13A5 MPNST (Case 13) 40X
The tumor involves several nerve fascicles with extension into the epineurium and soft tissue which is very close to the lateral peripheral margin. The tumor is markedly cellular and composed of hyperchromatic oval-to-elongated, slightly pleomorphic nucleated cells with scanty cytoplasm. Scattered mitotic figures are also seen. The epineurium also displays scattered perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate and few foreign body giant cells.
