Focally, there are numerous Meissner's corpuscles (arrow) within the tumor. Normally these structures lie between the dermal papillae just beneath the epidermis of the fingers, palms, and soles. Commonly they involve neurofibromas of the skin. They are formed of elongated Schwann cells, a connective tissue capsule and a central axon and represent cutaneous receptors for fine touch.
