Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS - CRANIAL AND PARASPINAL NERVEs | Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST) | 16C3 MPNST with Meissner's (Case 16) Coll IV 1
Meissner’s corpuscles also stain strongly for Collagen IV (Coll IV IHC) ---- Not shown: A subset of tumor nuclei show positive staining for p53 with a low Ki-67 proliferation index. The tumor cells are negative for caldesmon and CD57. ---- The morphologic features and immunohistochemical staining profile are consistent with a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor with low-grade features. MPNST tend to be heterogeneous and given the small sample size a more malignant component cannot be ruled out.
