1C3 MPNST (Case 1) H&E 12
1C3-8 The tumor parenchyma has a pale myxoid background in which extremely fine, wavy, irregularly-arranged eosinophilic collagen fibers ramify for short distances at moderate density. The tumor cells are generally spindled, with thin, irregular nuclei and moderate eosinophilic cytoplasm. Multiple areas achieve a marked hypercellularity; in these areas, the density of mitotic figures ranges up to three/10HPF, and these cells have more rounded nuclei and a less spindled appearance. There is no evidence of necrosis, calcification or aberrant differentiation.
