2A4-7 There are foci of rhabdomyoblastic (strap cells) differentiation; the presence of the latter justifies the term malignant triton tumor. In some areas the mitotic rate is extremely high (eight mitotic figures in a single 40X field). The apoptotic rate is low and there is no geographic (tumoral) necrosis.
