3B MPNST (Case 3) MIB
A MIB-1 immunostain (Ki-67) shows a markedly elevated proliferative index (34%). ---- Not shown: The tumor cells show scattered immunoreactivity for S100 protein and diffuse immunoreactivity for collagen IV. A subset of tumor cells also show nuclear labeling for P53 stain. Based on the histomorphology, immunostaining profile and a history of neurofibromatosis type I, this neoplasm is diagnostic of a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor.
