The sections of the cauda equina demonstrate malignant cells infiltrating in and around peripheral nerves and surrounding blood vessels. The cauda equina shows a mixture of viable and nonviable necrotic appearing malignant cells along with thrombosis of medium to large sized vessels and vascular hyalinization, consistent with treatment effect.
