Case 8 History ---- The patient is a 27-year-old man with neurofibromatosis 1 who presented in May 2015 with a one-week history of bilateral lower extremity weakness, and presented again in July 2015 with one day of acute worsening. MRI imaging studies reveal an extensive burden of presumed peripheral nerve sheath tumors involving cervical, thoracic, and lumbar levels of the spine and spinal cord, with an expanding area of decreased intensity between L2-L4, suggestive of focal hemorrhagic conversion or degeneration-associated mass effect. Operative procedure: Lumbar laminectomy with intradural biopsy and spinal cord tumor resection. ---- 8A Impressive involvement of the vertebral column, lumbar area is shown in STIR sagittal scan.
