Five of 6 submitted tumors have routine neurofibroma histopathology; i.e., they are composed of spindle shaped cells with wavy bland nuclei amidst fibroblastic stroma and collagen fibrils. In some areas, infiltration of dorsal root ganglia is noted. ---- 4B1-5 The C1-2 tumor specimen is different. 4B1-3 Low magnification images of this plexiform neurofibroma show multiple tumorous fascicles and an adjacent reactive intra- and extradural soft tissue process.
