One pattern consists of compact arrangements of spindled to small epithelioid cells, (Antoni A type). A second pattern consists of loose microcystic tissue with delicate spindled cells, (Antoni B type). ---- Not shown: Immunohistochemical stain was performed for neurofilament protein. The neurofilament protein highlights the nerve and axons at the periphery of the tumor, consistent with a relatively solid growth pattern.
