28B1 Schwannoma-Meningioma Collision (Case 28) H&E 4X copy.jpg
Hematoxylin and eosin stained sections of the resection specimen A1 show a single mass composed of two distinct tumors with an area of overlap. In one area (arrow) the tumor is predominantly hypercellular and is composed of benign spindle cells in fascicles and whorled nodules, with hyperchromatic wavy nuclei. This Antoni A area also has anuclear zones surrounded by palisaded nuclei, forming Verocay bodies. A second area is dominated by meningioma (arrowheads) with numerous psammoma bodies.
