Comment: The proliferation was initially classified as non-Langerhans cell type, based on the negative CD1a immunostain and lack of typical Langerhans cell nuclear morphology. Initially, immunoreactivity for factor XIIIa supported the diagnosis of juvenile xanthogranuloma, although some characteristic features (e.g. Touton-type giant cells) were not present.
