Coronal sections through the cerebral hemispheres revealed a large focus of hemorrhage with adjacent hemorrhagic necrosis in the left frontoparietal region measuring approximately 5 x 4 x 2.5 cm. Surrounding the margin of the hemorrhagic necrosis there were multiple punctate focal hemorrhagic lesions with a center measuring up to 0.5 cm. in diameter. There was evidence of a midline cerebral hemispheric shift, with compression of the left lateral ventricle and displacement of the septum pellucidum in the absence of cingulate gyrus herniation
