The lesion is composed of a proliferation of histiocytic cells with reniform nuclei and nuclear grooves. Numerous admixed eosinophils are noted, some of which form 'eosinophilic microabscesses. ---- Ancillary findings (not shown): A CD1a immunostain is strongly positive in the histiocytic cells. An immunostain for BRAFV600E mutant protein is negative.
