Case 9 History ---- The patient was a 50 year-old woman with altered mental status, confusion, depression, and findings of panhypopituitarism including diabetes insipidus. Per clinical records, the patient was in her normal state of health until approximately 4-5 months previously when she began experiencing increasing fatigue. ---- 9A1-4 Magnetic resonance imaging shows a 2.5 x 2 x 2 cm avidly enhancing mass with indistinct borders which primarily involves the optic nerves/chiasm and hypothalamus, extending into the brainstem, inferior thalamus and ventral mesencephalon, and is separate from the pituitary. Radiological diagnosis: Glioma. Operative procedure: Stereotactic biopsy of suprasellar mass.
