5B1 Lymphoma, HIV Leukoencephalopathy, CMV (Case 5) H&E N12 WM
5B1-3 Sections of the large left subcortical mass, left parietal mass and cerebellar mass in this case were characterized by a proliferation of discohesive appearing round cells with a rim of eosinophilic cytoplasm, and multiple nuclei with prominent nucleoli. Some of these cells have eccentric nuclei and are plasmacytoid in appearance. Other cells have striking nuclear pleomorphism with very irregular basophilic nuclei. There are numerous apoptotic cells, areas of necrosis and occasional mitotic figures.
