9C Lymphoma (Case 9) EBER 1.jpg
A section stained by in situ hybridization using a probe for Epstein-Barr virus early RNA (EBER) show hybridization in a large majority of tumor cells. This histologic/immunohistochemical/in situ hybridization pattern is consistent with primary CNS diffuse large B cell lymphoma; the extensive necrosis and EBER positivity of this lesion is consistent with the patient's immunocompromised condition.
