The individual tumor cells are enlarged with irregular, notched hyperchromatic nuclei coarse chromatin; some with single or multiple prominent nucleoli and show marked pleomorphism. These cells have minimal to scant cytoplasm. There is abundant karyorrhectic/apoptotic debris. Mitotic figures, including atypical forms, are frequent. There is some reactive astrocytosis, and intermingled small lymphocytes and macrophages. (H&E)
