Case 19 History ---- The patient is a 75-year-old woman with history of colon carcinoma, and now presents with a right cingulate gyrus tumor. Operative procedure and findings: Biopsy of lesion, necrotic tissue. ---- 19A1-3 Sections of the "right pericallosal mass," show fragments of brain parenchyma with an extensively necrotic neoplasm, composed of solid sheets of mononuclear cells and perivascular cuffs blending into less cellular zones of infiltration. The infiltrate is composed of large round cells with prominent nucleoli and amphophilic cytoplasm. There are scattered small reactive lymphocytes and macrophages. The mitotic rate is brisk and there is prominent apoptosis.
