Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (HEMATOLYMPHOID) | Lymphoma, primary | 26B1 Lymphoma (Case 26) H&E WM
26B1,2 Sections show a high grade malignant neoplasm consisting of sheets of neoplastic cells with associated karyorrhexis, necrosis, and numerous mitoses. The lesion has a nodular growth pattern, is poorly encapsulated, and has a pushing border with some infiltrative features. Portions of adjacent brain parenchyma shows gliosis, vessels with prominent lymphocytic cuffing, and neoplasm infiltrating as small groups and as individual cells. The neoplastic cells are highly pleomorphic and have large irregularly-shaped highly atypical nuclei with vesicular chromatin and prominent (and often multiple) nucleoli. The cells grow predominantly in a densely packed sheet-like pattern with numerous interspersed vessels that show marked thickening. (H&E)
