Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (HEMATOLYMPHOID) | Lymphoma, primary | 28A1 Lymphoma, B-cell, spindle-sclerosing variant (AANP 2016-Case 4)
28A1-4 The unusual spindled appearance is not initially suspicious for lymphoma; thus, there was a significant role for immunohistochemistry in the classification of the tumor. Initial immunohistochemistry was negative for CD34, S100, SMA, desmin, CD56, CD1a, ALK1 and CD68. The tumor cells are strongly CD20, CD79a and PAX5 immunoreactive consistent with a B cell origin. BCL2 stained minimally but BCL6, CD10 and scattered MUM1 were positive. Patchy immunoreactivity was reported for CD21, CD23 & CD35. There were a few c-myc positive cells. The submitters’ final diagnosis was: B-cell lymphoma, germinal center origin, spindle/sclerosing variant.
