Sections of the "corpus callosum, lesion," show a perivascular and parenchymal infiltrate of atypical lymphocytes, composed of large cells with slightly irregular nuclei, moderately clumped chromatin and large nucleoli, in a background of abundant necrosis. The mitotic rate is brisk and there is increased apoptosis.
