Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (HEMATOLYMPHOID) | Lymphoma, primary | 5B2 Lymphoma (Case 5) H&E 2
5B2,3 Histologic features include the presence of a malignant neoplasm consisting of medium to large sized cells with hematopoietic features. The neoplastic cells have large round, irregularly shaped nuclei, contain clumped chromatin, and have relatively scant cytoplasm. The specimen consists predominantly of neoplastic cells with a sheet-like growth pattern and associated hemorrhage. Occasional vessel walls can be seen; however, classical perivascular cuffing is obscured by the extent of the neoplastic infiltrate and little to no normal brain parenchyma is present. Mitoses and karyorrhectic debris are easily identified.
