Case 8 History ---- The patient was a 42 year old woman with a history of Hodgkin's lymphoma (diagnosed in 1993) which was followed by a long period of remission (nearly 20 years). Recurrent disease was diagnosed in 2006 (liver biopsy) and subsequent multiple recurrences involving pelvic, inguinal and retroperitoneal lymph nodes and bony involvement. She was status post auto bone marrow transplantation, allogeneic unrelated donor stem cell transplantation (2010) and treatment and relapse with multiple chemotherapeutic regimens. Per clinical history, the patient had successful remission with each round of chemotherapy. In April 2012, she developed altered speech, frequent falls, confusion and altered sensorium over a period of 2 days. MR imaging performed at the time showed features suggestive of intracranial involvement by Hodgkin's lymphoma. With continued clinical deterioration and multisystem involvement, a decision was made for comfort care and the patient was extubated, expiring in June 2012.
