2A4,5 The majority of tumor cells contain round to irregular nuclei with vesicular chromatin, prominent nucleoli, and small quantities of amphophilic cytoplasm. Mitotic figures (arrows) are easy to find, but there is no definite evidence of microvascular proliferation or necrosis. The infiltrative growth pattern is suggestive of a diffuse glioma. However, the cytologic features are reminiscent of malignant lymphoma. Unlike the usual example of primary CNS lymphoma however, there is no prominent angiocentric growth pattern in the current case, simply a diffuse spread of tumor cells. (H&E)
