Histologic analysis shows a hypercellular infiltrate within the subcortical white matter with a diffusely infiltrative growth pattern. The tumor cells are discohesive and contain large irregular nuclei with prominent nucleoli and small to moderate quantities of amphophilic cytoplasm. Focally, they grow around blood vessels and are associated with scattered perivascular lymphocytes. Mitotic figures are numerous. There is no evidence of necrosis. (H&E)
