1D2 Plasmacytoma (Case 1) ISH lambda 1
In situ hybridization for lambda light chains shows absence of staining. ---- Not shown: Flow cytometric analysis revealed 3% of events with the characteristics of small lymphocytes, of which there are essentially no events representing B-lymphocytes and 28% of events (within this small lymphocytes gate) representing T cells. Sixteen percent of events have the characteristics of large cells. Between 33-48% of events have the characteristics of plasma cells, which coexpress CD56 and CD138, and are monoclonal based on selective expression of cytoplasmic kappa Ig light chain. Based on histomorphologic features, immunostaining profile, in situ hybridization, and flow cytometry, this neoplasm is most consistent with a plasma cell dyscrasia.
