Case 5 History ---- The patient was a 37 year old woman who presented with intermittent headaches and visual disturbances for 4 years. Neuroimaging studies revealed thickening of the meninges in the region of the cavernous sinus and pituitary fossa. ---- 5A1-3 The neurosurgical specimen revealed a nodular or lobulated process composed of a mixed inflammatory infiltrate. There are numerous lymphocytes and plasma cells, the latter of which frequently contain Russell bodies. Additionally, there are large, ill-defined cells with clear to eosinophilic cytoplasm, suggestive of histiocytic cells. Focally, there is a suggestion of emperipolesis.
