S100 immunoreactivity was strong in tumor cells but not in the meningothelial islands (S100 IHC) ---- Ancillary studies (not shown): FISH studies to assess the status of chromosomal arms 22q and 18p in light of the foci meningothelial proliferation was performed. Deletions of these arms are associated with meningiomas. In this case, normal dosages (i.e., two copies) of both chromosomes 18 and 22 are seen. Meningothelial hyperplasia in this case was considered secondary to the RDD process.
